Configuring Windows for a Full Memory Dump

Just a quick one on configuring Windows 7/8/10 & Servers for a full memory dump so you get the most information possible.

If you are in the Startup and Recovery options and do not see the option for ‘Complete Memory Dump’ (See below image), you need to make a registry change.

01

The registry value you need to set is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl\CrashDumpEnabled
with a REG_DWORD value of '1'
02

Once you set this, reboot and you should see the ‘Complete Memory Dump’ option available.

(Obviously registry editing at your own risk, take a backup and all that jazz.)
